Questions families ask
These are the questions we hear most. If yours isn’t here, we’d be glad to help — just reach out.
What happens if your company goes away someday?
Your binder is yours to keep. We encourage you to print it and store a copy at home, so the people you love can hold it in their hands no matter what happens to us. The printed binder doesn't depend on a website, a login, or a company being in business.
What if I forget my password?
When you set up your account, you'll receive one-time recovery codes — keep them somewhere safe. They're the way back in if you forget your password. Because your confidential information is encrypted with your password, we cannot recover those private fields for you without a recovery code. That's by design: it's what keeps your secrets secret.
Can my children or family see this while I'm still fine?
No. Nothing is shared automatically. You decide if and when to grant access to a trusted contact, and you can change your mind at any time. Until you do, your binder is private to you.
Do I have to keep paying to keep my binder?
No. The Free tier lets you build and print your binder, and the copy you print is yours forever. Paid plans add conveniences like uploads, online sharing, and professional printing — but the binder itself always belongs to you.
Who can read my information?
Your confidential fields are encrypted on your own device before they ever reach us, so we cannot read them. Your password is the key that unwraps your data. We hold the locked box; only you hold the key.
Do I need to be good with computers to use this?
Not at all. Bob's Binder is built to be calm and clear, with large text and one step at a time. It's designed for ordinary people preparing for an extraordinary kindness to their families.
