Privacy & Security

Your private information stays private. Here's how — in plain language.

Some of what goes in your binder is deeply personal: account numbers, passwords, the quiet instructions you’d only share with those closest to you. You should be able to trust the place you keep it. Here is how Bob’s Binder protects what you put in our care.

Privacy banner — the shield of faith

Your password unwraps your data

Your most sensitive fields are locked on your own device before they’re ever sent to us, using a key that only your password can open. When you sign in, your password quietly unwraps your information so you can read and edit it. Without your password, that lock stays closed.

We cannot read your confidential fields

Because the key lives with you, we cannot read your confidential information — not our staff, not our systems. We hold a locked box; only you hold the key. That’s a deliberate choice. It means your private details stay private, even from us.

Recovery codes are one-time

When you set up your account, we give you one-time recovery codes. Keep them somewhere safe, like with your other important papers. If you ever forget your password, a recovery code is the way back in. Because no one but you can open your locked information, please don’t lose them — we can’t recover those private fields for you without one.

The binder in your hands is the surest backup

Technology is a wonderful helper, but it shouldn’t be your family’s only hope. That’s why we encourage you to print your binder and keep a copy at home. A printed binder doesn’t need a password, a company, or an internet connection. Whatever happens to us, the binder your family can hold is theirs to keep.
